Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s goal, primarily using the feet to control, pass, and shoot the ball. The game is played in two halves, each usually lasting 45 minutes, and is governed by the rules established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

The term “football” can refer to different variations of the sport depending on the region. In most countries, it refers to what is known as soccer in the United States and Canada. However, in the U.S. and Canada, “football” specifically refers to American football, a different sport involving throwing and carrying an oval ball, which is played primarily with the hands and has distinct scoring methods including touchdowns and field goals.

Football is one of the most popular and widely watched sports globally, celebrated for its simplicity, accessibility, and capacity to bring people together through local, national, and international competitions, including the FIFA World Cup and various national leagues.
